Genesis 1:26-28, 2

 

The Image of God: God made you to look, love, and live like Him

 

1. God made you in His image to look like Him.

 

Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness…

Colossians 1:15

He is the image of the invisible God.

Romans 8:29

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Colossians 3:10

 …being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

2 Corinthians 3:18

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

 

2. God made you in His image to love like Him.

 

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Ephesians 5:31-32

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

 

 

3. God made you in His image to live like Him.


Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth...

Matthew 28:19

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
