Breaking Free From Sin

Faithlessness to Faithfulness

John 16:9

Concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God.

Romans 10:17

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Numbers 13:1

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel. From each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a chief among them.

Deuteronomy 1:21

See, the Lord your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the Lord, the God of you father, has told you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Mark 16:15

And Jesus said to them, Go into all the world and preach the Gospel.

Deuteronomy 1:22

Then all of you came near me and said, Let us send men before us, that they may explore the land for us and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up and the cities into which we shall come.

Good News

Numbers 13:27

And they told him, We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

Bad News

Numbers 13:28

- The people are strong.
- The cities are fortified and large,
- The descendants of Anak (giants) are there.

Numbers 13:29

- The Amalekites are in the Negeb.
- The Hittities, Jebusites, and Amorites are in the hill country.
- The Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the Jordan.

Faithful Response

Numbers 13:30

But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.

Faithless Response

Numbers 13:31

- We are not able to go up against the people,
- They are stronger than we are.

Numbers 13:32

- is a land that devours its inhabitants
- all the people that we saw in it are of great height.

Numbers 13:33

- And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak)
- we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers.

Faithlessness is Contagious

Numbers 14:1

- Then all the congregation raised a loud cry,
- the people wept that night.

Numbers 14:2

- All the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
- Would that we had died in the land of Egypt!
- Or would that we had died in this wilderness!

Numbers 14:3

- Why is the Lord bringing us into this land,
- to fall by the sword?
- Our wives and our little ones will become a prey.
- Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?

Numbers 14:4

- Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.

Faithfulness is Courageous

Numbers 14:5

- Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly.

Numbers 14:6-7

- And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, said
- The land is an exceedingly good land.

Numbers 14:8

- If the Lord delights in us,
- He will bring us into this land and give it to us,
- a land that flows with milk and honey.

Numbers 14:9

- Only do not rebel against the Lord.
- And do not fear the people of the land,
- for they are bread for us.
- Their protection is removed from them,
- and the Lord is with us;
- do not fear them.

How To Break Free from Faithlessness to Faithfulness:

1. Pray
2. Believe the Promises of God.
3. Repent of and resist sin.
4. Do not fear.
5. Believe the Presence of God.
