In my previous blog, about 5 minutes ago, entitled "Whats flowing out of you?"I posted a devotional from "My Utmost for His Highest" but did not acknowledge that fact anywhere. So even though I agree and am challenged by these words, please know that I did not mean to take credit but just wanted to share.

THE SACRAMENT OF SACRIFICE
He that believeth in Me . . out of him shall flow... .
John 7:38
Jesus did not say - "he that believeth in Me shall realize the blessing of the fulness of God," but - "he that believeth in Me out of him shall escape everything he receives." Our Lord's teaching is always anti -self-realization. His purpose is not the development of a man; His purpose is to make a man exactly like Himself, and the characteristic of the Son of God is self-expenditure. If we believe in Jesus, it is not what we gain, but what He pours through us that counts. It is not that God makes us beautifully rounded grapes, but that He squeezes the sweetness out of us. Spiritually, we cannot measure our life by success, but only by what God pours through us, and we cannot measure that at all.
When Mary of Bethany broke the box of precious ointment and poured it on Jesus' head, it was an act for which no one else saw any occasion; the disciples said it was a waste. But Jesus commended Mary for her extravagant act of devotion, and said that wherever His gospel was preached "this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her." Our Lord is carried beyond Himself with joy when He sees any of us doing what Mary did, not being set on this or that economy, but being abandoned to Him. God spilt the life of His Son that the world might be saved; are we prepared to spill out our lives for Him?
"He that believeth in Me out of him shall flow rivers of living water" - hundreds of other lives will be continually refreshed. It is time now to break the life, to cease craving for satisfaction, and to spill the thing out. Our Lord is asking who of us will do it for Him?

Hey Kids,
It is here at last, this coming Sunday is the opening of our Spring St. Treehouse for our Kid's Worship! I can't wait! The xbox 360s and Wii games are in and ready to go. We have lots of games, worship and fun awaiting each of you every Sunday at 9:00 in the Spring St. Treehouse. Every 4th Sunday you will go to worship with your parents and go to your connection groups at the same time that your parents go. Lots of new and exciting things to get use to. In a few weeks everyone will be accustomed to the routine. I also have Spring St. t-shirts on sale in the Children's Welcome Center. Get your shirt right away cause they are going fast.
Wednesday night programming begins this week. The Treehouse will not be ready until Sunday so children will go to their choirs in their respected room numbers at 6:00 and the children that are going to be hanging out in the Treehouse can just come to the Children's Welcome Center this week and we will play a couple of games. At 6:30 our 1st and 2nd graders will go to Super Duper Thought Igniting Bible study activities or flutophone lessons. The 3rd - 5th graders will go to guitar lessons or Bible Study. At 7:00 all of the children will come back together normally in the treehouse but on Sept. 1st we will all be in the adult choir room. Next week the Treehouse will be open at 6:00 for any child not in choir and at 7:00 for our children's musical practice.
Please know that all of you 1st and 2nd graders must be dropped off and picked up by a responsible adult at least 18 years old. On Sunday you will be checked in at the Treehouse at 9:00 and you will be picked up at your connection group at 11:45. There will be a computer generated arm band that your parents will use for pick up. On Wednesday, there will be a 2 part form that will need to be completed and the adult dropping the child off will use that corresponding copy for pick up.
Can't wait until Sunday and remember... use your invitations that you got in SS today and go out and invite all of your friends to come to church.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!
Much love to all of you!
Mrs. Mary

To be brief and to the point...Hallelujah!!! Yesterday we saw 9 folks make the great decision to become part of our FBCPS Family. 8 folks after "visiting" with us for quite awhile decided to make it official and joined us while precious Jilley came to say she had accepted Christ as her Savior and Lord and wanted to be baptized into our church. It's not often you to wait in line to join but it was a Beautiful-Spirit Filled moment and I am sure glad I was there to witness it.
But as a long time pastor friend always says during baptism "there is room for many many more". Let's ask the Lord of the Harvest to call and send out His workers, that would be me and you, into the fields that are white unto harvest and bring them in!

Is Building a Mosque at Ground Zero In New York City Wise?
An Islamic group, using an anonymous source of funding, is seeking to build a $100 million Mosque and Islamic Center in New York City, a few blocks from the place Islamic terrorist flew American Airline Passenger jets into the Twin Tours on September 11, 2001 and killed over 3,000 people. When I first saw this story on the internet, I felt it was one of those silly rumors which inhabit the web because the notion seemed so nonsensical. However, as we now know the rumor is reality.
We just returned from the Baptist World Alliance meeting in Honolulu where Baptist-flavored Jesus followers from 105 countries gathered to share worship and encouragement. While visiting Honolulu, we traveled to the Arizona Memorial which honors those who died at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese surprise attack on December 7, 1941 that left 2,800 Americans dead. Can you imagine how ludicrous it would be to have a Japanese Cultural Center, Shinto Temple and Monument to a Japanese Pilot adjacent to Pearl Harbor.
Invoking the concept of religious freedom, many politicians like Michael Bloomberg are defending the plan to build the NYC mosque. Granted, they may have the right to build it, but it is not right. Building a mosque near ground zero lacks wisdom, sensitivity and common sense. Salt is good, but not in your wounds. What can be done and what should be done are often different. Paul taught the practical truth, "Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial." (1 Corinthians 6:12)
CNN interviewed a Nigerian man in NYC who gave an opinion which was not politically correct but made a lot of common sense as he observed, "Building a mosque at ground zero would be an insensitive insult to those whom the Muslim terrorist murdered. In Nigeria, as the Muslims have grown stronger they do not bring freedom but remove it because they have a dark view of the world. Americans are naïve to think an Islamic center will not become a place for propagating future harmful activity."
In these crazy times that seem to be shockingly devoid of common sense and wisdom, what should we do? Here is my list of stabilizing standards:
- In faith, "pray without ceasing; rejoice in the Lord always; and in everything give thanks."
- Function as God's salt and light amidst the decay and darkness of our day by sharing your ready witness for the reality of Jesus Christ and His power to transform broken people.
- Grow in your ability to articulate a Christian Worldview because following the Jesus way of love, purity and serving makes so much sense since it overflows with a multitude of personal and societal benefits.
- Continue to wisely and consistently build the Kingdom of God in your sphere of influence because those efforts will produce eternal fruit!
